I had a difficult day so far with the tot. She was clingy, meddling with forbidden objects, refused to lie down in her cot and all that usual jazz. I was impatient and getting madder and madder as the seconds on the clock ticked away. To top it off, I was (and still am) hungry.

1. I trimmed the lil tot’s fringe last night in the bath.
